Know that the dua'as which we read are dua'as (i.e supplications) and many times our supplications are not answered. There are many reasons for it. You may see here : Some reasons why our Dua'as are not answered or rejected

Anas ibn Malik (radiyallahu `anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“Indeed Shaytan places his snout on the heart of Ibn Adam, when he remembers Allah he withdraws and when he becomes unmindful of Allah, then Shaytan devours/whispers into his heart, this is what is meant by ‘Al Waswas’ and ‘Al Khannas’ [mentioned in Surah Nas].”

[Ref: Musnad Abu Ya`la, Hadeeth: 4301]

BLACK MAGIC IS TRUE & NOT MERELY A PSYCHOLOGICAL EFFECT AND WHOEVER DENIES THIS, DENIES IN THE QUR'ANIC VERSE WHICH PROVES THE EXISTENCE OF MAGIC

“teaching people magic and that which was revealed to the two angels at Babylon, Harut and Marut…. And [yet] they learn from them that by which they cause separation between a man and his wife….” (Soorah al-Baqarah:102) (al-Mugnee 8/150-151 and al-Kaafee 3/164)

Imaam Abdullaah Qutaibah cites the incidence of the woman who came to ask concerning the ruling pertaining to magic in his monumental book in defence of hadeeth, ‘Taaweel Mukhtalif al-Hadeeth.’ He goes onto say whoever does not believe in the existence and reality of magic and sorcery then he opposes that which has been revealed in the Quraan because the Messenger of Allaah (Sallalahu Alayhee Wasallam) ordered us to seek refuge in it. “And from the evil of the blowers in knots.” (Soorah al-Falaq:4)

Shaikh Abdur Rahmaan bin Hassan Aal-Shaikh said, “Umar (RadhiAllaahu Anhu) said Jibt means magic and Taghoot means and refers to Shaytaan.” Imaam Ibn Abee Haatim has also transmitted this report .

(Bukhaari has referenced it in note form in his Saheeh 8/251, Haafidh Ibn Hajr said its chain is strong in Fath ul-Baaree 8/252, Imaam Tabaree also cited it no.9766 and said its narrators are trustworthy, as also cited in Sharh Aqeedah Tahaawiyyah pg.568 and Fath ul-Majeed pg.222)

Shaikh ul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah said, “Whosoever rejects the existence of jinns, shayateen and magic, or rejects the possession of people by jinns, or the reciting and reading of incantations or chants In order to call and communicate with jinns, then he has denied something (so factual and well known) that he has no knowledge of.” (Majmoo al-Fataawa (24/280).

“And from the evil of the blowers in knots.” (Soorah al-Falaq:4)

Imaam Bukhaari in explanation of the above verse said “an-Naffasaati (Blowers) refers to female magicians who perform magic.” (Saheeh al-Bukhaari 10/221 with Fath)

Allaamah Baghawee said, “an-Naffasaati (Blowers) refers to female magicians who blow without spittle.” (Sharh as-Sunnah 12/185)

Haafidh Ibn Hajr said, “an-Naffasaati (Blowers) refers to female magicians and sorcerers. This is the explanation of Hasan al-Basree and Imaam Tabaree has transmitted this with an authentic chain. Abu Ubaidah has also mentioned this in his book ‘Majaaz’ and said, “an-Naffasaati (Blowers) refers to the female sorcerers who blow. Imaam Tabaree has transmitted from a group of the companions and others that there is also blowing in Ruqyah.” (Fath ul-Baaree 10/225)

Allah and his Messenger (s.a.w) taught us how to stay protected from every kind of evil. be it a sin or be it an evil from an extra terrestial source like Jins and etc. one such method of protecting ourselves is not by hanging taweedh (which btw is haraam and in some cases Shirq too)  but by constantly praising, remembering and seeking protection from Allah the proof of which comes from the hadith :

It was narrated from al-Haarith al-Ash’ari that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Allaah commanded Yahyaa ibn Zakariyah (peace be upon him) five things to follow and to enjoin upon the Children of Israel… and he commanded them to remember Allaah, and the likeness of that is a man who was being pursued by the enemy, until he reached a strong fortress in which he found protection; similarly a man cannot find protection from the Shaytaan except by remembering Allaah…”

[Ref: Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 2863; he said it is hasan saheeh. The hadeeth was classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami’, 1724]

Some tips to remember or draw close to Allah are :

The Prophet (peace be upon him) related to us that Allah says: "The most beloved things with which My servant draws nearer to Me is what I have enjoined upon him; and My servant keeps drawing closer to Me through performing voluntary (Nawafil) acts until I love him. And when I love him, I become his sense of hearing with which he hears, his sense of sight with which he sees, his hand with which he grips, and his leg with which he walks. If he asks Me, I will give him, and if he asks My protection I will protect him. I hesitate the most in acting when a believing servant hates to die, for I hate to displease him." [Sahîh al-Bukhârî (6021)]

The Prophet (peace be upon him) related to us that Allah says: "I am as My servant thinks of Me. I am with him when he remembers Me. If he remembers Me within himself, I mention him within Myself. If he mentions me before company, I mention him before a greater company. If he draws near to Me a handspan, I draw near to him an arm's length. If he draws near to Me an arm's length, I come near to him the distance of outspread arms. If he comes to Me walking, I come to him running.

[Sahîh al-Bukhârî (6856) and Sahîh Muslim (4832)]

EVIL EYE (BURI NAZAR)IS A FACT !

The evil eye usually comes from people who are jealous or envious (Hasad) as Ibn al-Qayyim rahimahullah said: “Everyone who gives the evil eye is jealous, but not everyone who is jealous gives the evil eye…”

He also said:
“It begins when the person likes something, then his evil soul dwells on the matter, and by continually looking at the person who has the thing of which he feels jealous, he directs his venom towards him. A person may put the evil eye on himself, or he may put the evil eye on someone else without intending to, because it is a part of his nature.

This is the worst type of human being. Our companions and other fuqahaa’ said: if someone is known for this, he should be detained by the imaam (leader), who should spend on him and provide for him until he dies. This idea is absolutely correct…” [Zaad al-Ma`aad, (4/167)]

Although it is correct that the evil eye comes from people who feel jealous (Hasad), it may also come from a person who is not jealous but merely likes something:

Narrated Sahl Ibn Hunaif رضي الله عنه that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “Whoever among you sees something in himself or in his possessions or in his brother that he likes, let him pray for blessing for it, because the evil eye is real.”

[Ref: Ibn al-Sunni in `Aml al-Yaum wal-Laylah, al-Haakim (4/216). And graded as “Saheeh” by Shaikh al-Albaanee in al-Kalim al-Tayyib (244)]

Narrated Zainab bint Abu Salama from Umm Salama (Radhi Allahu Anhaa) who said that: "The Messenger of Allah (PBUH), saw a slave girl in her house with some reddish blackness in her face. He said, 'Do Ruqyah for her. She is suffering from the evil eye." [Ref: Sahih Al-Bukhari, Chpt#79 'Book of Medicine', Hadith#5407]

It was reported from Abu Umaamah ibn Sahl ibn Hunaif that his father told him that the Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم went out and they travelled with him towards Makkah until they reached Shi’b al-Khazzaar in al-Juhfah. Sahl ibn Hunayf رضي الله عنه washed himself, and he was a white man with a handsome body and skin. `Aamir ibn Rabee`ah رضي الله عنه, the brother of Bani `Udayy ibn Ka`b, looked at him when he was washing, and said: “I have never seen anything like this, not even the skin of a virgin in seclusion!” (This was a metaphor for the intense whiteness of his skin). Then Sahl رضي الله عنه suffered a seizure (an epileptic fit, in which he fell to the ground). He was brought to the Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم and it was said: “O Messenger of Allaah, do you know what has happened to Sahl? By Allaah, he cannot raise his head and he will not wake up.” He صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “Do you accuse anyone with regard to him?” They said: “`Aamir ibn Rabee`ah looked at him.” So the Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم called `Aamir and spoke angrily with him saying: “Would any of you like to kill his brother? If you see something that you like, why do you not pray for blessing for it?” Then he said to him (`Aamir): “Do ghusl for him.” So he washed his face, hands, elbows, the soles of his feet and inside his izaar (lower garment) from a vessel, then that water was poured over him (Sahl) – a man poured it over his head and back from behind, tilting the vessel. This was done to him, then Sahl went on with the people and there was nothing wrong with him.

[Ref: Musnad Ahmad (3/486), al-Haythami in al-Majma` (5/107) said: “the men of Ahmad are the men of Saheeh.” Also reported by Ibn Maajah (3509) with a slight different wordings and graded as “Saheeh” by Shaikh al-Albaanee]

Yahya related to me from Malik from Yahya ibn Said from Sulayman ibn Yasar that Urwa ibn az-Zubayr told him that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, entered the house of Umm Salama, the wife of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. There was a child weeping in the house, and they told him that it was from the evil eye. Urwa said, "The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, 'Why do you not find someone to make an incantation (ruqyah) to protect it from the evil eye?'

[Ref: Muwatta Malik, chapter 50, hadeeth 4 , hadeeth under the chapter' evil eye']

Note: Here are a few duas which are to be recited everyday to protect ourselves from evil eye and Jinns. Please note that mostly these dua'as are preventative i.e prevents harm and not curative i.e curing harm because for curing there are different sets of Dua's and verses. I'll mention only one or two curing dua'as whereas all others will be preventative

DUAS TO PROTECT FROM EVIL EYE (BURI NAZAR), JINS AND BLACK MAGIC

SEEKING PROTECTION USING QURANIC VERSES

CATEGORY A - VERY STRONG AND USEFUL DUAS IN THIS REGARDS

1 – Reciting Aayat al-Kursiy [al-Baqarah 2:255] Everyday preferably thrice morning and evening i.e. whenever u get up and as soon as Maghrib falls or you can also read it once. there is no limit or restriction so as to how many times should we recite.

[Ref: Sahih Bukhari, Hadith no. 4624or hadith no. 3101]

2 – Reciting The below mentioned surahs are compulsory with proper pronounciaton -

  • Surah Al Ikhlaas - preferable to read 3 times morning and evening each
  • Surah Al Falaq - preferable to read 3 times morning and evening each
  • Surah Al Nas - preferable to read 3 times morning and evening each

Mu'adh ibn `Abdullah ibn Khubayb reported that his father said, "We went out on a very dark and rainy night looking for the Messenger of Allah to lead us in the prayer. We found him and he said, 'Speak.' I did not say anything,.' Then he said, 'Say,' and I did not say anything. Then he said, 'Say,' and I said, 'Messenger of Allah, what shall I say?' He said, 'Recite, "Say: He is God, One," and the suras of seeking refuge in the evening and the morning three times, it will be enough to protect you in respect of everything.'"

[Ref: Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 2058; he said it is hasan ghareeb. Also narrated by al-Nasaa’i, 5494; Ibn Maajah, 3511. The hadeeth was classed as saheeh by al-Albaani (may Allaah have mercy on him) in Saheeh al-Jaami’, 4905 . Taken from Targheeb wa Tarheeb of Ibn Hajar , chapter of Dhikr]

It is Related by Imaam ad-Daarimee in his Sunan as #3382 and #3383 from ‘Abdullah bin Mas’ood-may Allah be pleased with him-and it has been ruled as being marf’oo [1] that he said:

    “Whoever recites ten verses from Soorat-ul-Baqarah at night time the shaytaan will not enter the house that evening until the morning, (i.e ) the first four verses of Soorat-ul-Baqarah, Aayat-ul-Kursee and the two verses after it, in addition to the three last verses of Soorat-ul-Baqarah beginning with: {…To Allah belongs what is in the heavens…}

And in another narration:

“…shaytaan or anything he dislikes will not come near him nor his family that day, and it is not recited over a mentally ill person except that he will recover from his illness.

[Ref: At-Tabaraanee related it in his Kabeer as #8673, and al-Haythamee said in his Majma’ (#17014): “The men of this narration are the narrators of the Saheeh except that ash-Sha’bee did not hear directly from Ibn Mas’oud.” [1]:  Al-Khateeb (rahimahullah) said: “It is what has been narrated by a companion directly from the Messenger (may the peace & blessings of Allah be upon him)”. Al-Baa’eeth-ul-Hatheeth Page 54 (or 55 in Shamela). This narration is classified to have a weakness yet some scholars like Ibn Hajar in نتائج الأفكار 3/274 said this is Mawqoof , but pointed towards the disconnection in الفتوحات الربانية 3/284, This is also narrated in Shu`b al Emaan 2314. Some scholars have considered the Mursal of ash-Sha`bee to be ok. Even if it is weak then the former part of the text i.e before the part " and it is not recited over a mentally...." remains saheeh as affirmed by other narrations speaking on the virtue of these verses from al-Baqarah  ]

This is how it is read :

1. start with first 4 verses of Surah baqrah

2. then stop and read complete ayatul Kursi

3. then read two more verses i.e after you complete ayatul Kursi read the following 2 more verses right after it.

4. Then finally read the last three verses of surah baqrah

these combined verses from different parts of surah baqrah make it 10 verse in total

Ali radiallahu `anhu  said:

ما كنتُ أرى أحداً يعقل ينام قبل أن يقرأ الآيات الثلاث الأواخر من سورة البقرة

“About a man who did not read the last three ayats of Surah Al-Baqarah at night, I can not say that he is intelligent”

[Ref: Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah, hadith: 29927, Sunan Darimi, hadith: 3552/3384, At-Tibyan, pgs. 205-205 & Nataijul Afkar, vol.3 pgs.90-91. In al-Adhkaar (220), al-Nawawi attributed it to the report of Abu Bakr ibn Abi Dawood, then he said: It is saheeh according to the conditions of al-Bukhaari and Muslim. ]

“Hasbi Allaahu laa ilaaha illa huwa, ‘alayhi tawakkaltu wa huwa Rabb ul-‘arsh il-‘azeem

(Allaah is sufficient for me. none has the right to be worshipped but He. in Him I put my trust and He is the Lord of the Mighty Throne)”

[Sunan Abu Dawud, Hadith No. 5081, Hassan]

4 – Reciting the last two aayahs of Soorat al-Baqarah (verse no. 285 & 286) at the beginning of the night. These are the aayahs which are very strong against shaitaan and evil.

[Ref: Sahih Muslim 807]

It was narrated from al-Nu’maan ibn Basheer (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Allaah inscribed a book two thousand years before He created the heavens and the earth, from which the last two aayahs of Soorat al-Baqarah were revealed. If they are recited for three nights, no shaytaan (devil)will remain in the house)

[Ref: Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 2882. This hadeeth was classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami’, 1799]

PROTECTION USING DUAS PROVEN FROM SUNNAH

5- It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever says

“Laa ilaaha ill-Allaah wahdahu laa shareeka lah, lahu’l-mulk wa lahu’l-hamd wa huwa ‘ala kulli shay’in qadeer”

one hundred times in the day, will have a reward equivalent to that of freeing ten slaves, one hundred hasanahs (good deeds) will be recorded for him, and one hundred sayi’ahs (bad deeds) will be erased from his record, and it will be protection for him from the Shaytaan for that day, until evening comes. No one could achieve any better than him except the one who does more than he did.”

[Ref: narrated by al-Bukhaari, 31119; Muslim, 2691]

Preferable to Recite the below 3 times each - morning (preferably whenever you get up) and evening (maghrib or asap). reciting it one time is also okay. there is no limit or restriction so as to how many times should we recite. Please note certain dua's have the number of times mentioned in them like the one mentioned below:

A'udhu (plural :
U'eedhu) bi kalimaat Allaahi ttaammati min kulli shaytaanin wa haammah wa min kulli ‘aynin laammah

(I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allaah, from every devil and every poisonous reptile, and from every evil eye).’”

Note : The Dua mentioned above, is the dua which rasool s.a.w used to recite
to protect Al-Hassan r.a and Al-Hussayn r.a. hence he used to word U’eedhukuma ( I seek protection for you two ). But if one wants to protect himself, he should say – `Aaudhu (i.e. I seek refuge {for me} as mentioned in the roman English transliteration) instead of U’eedhukuma

Transliteration of the above dua'a : U`eedhukumaa bi kalimaat Allaah al-taammaati min kulli shaytaanin wa haammah wa min kulli `aynin laammah (I seek refuge for you both in the perfect words of Allaah, from every devil and every poisonous reptile, and from every evil eye).” [Sunan al-Tirmidhee (2060), Sunan Abu Dawood (4737) and Sunan Ibn Maajah (3525) and graded as “Saheeh” by Shaikh al-Albaanee]. And he would say: “Thus Ibraaheem used to seek refuge with Allaah for Ishaaq and Ismaa’eel عليهم السلام.” [Saheeh al-Bukhaaree (3371),Ahaadeeth al-Anbiyaa’, 3120]

If you want to recite this du`a for your child or someone else who is a male (father, brother, friend) then the wordings can be

The prophet (s.a.w) is reported to have used these words for `Ali (r.a) in Tabraani, Majma` az-Zawaid, Bazzar, Ibn Hibban and elsewhere. but this  hadeeth is dha`eef , nevertheless take the wordings of the du`a which means
:O Allah! I seek your protection for him and his progeny from Shaytan the accursed

or you can add this at the start of the former du`a (i.e du`a no. 13) by adding in the beginning :

and then proceed/continue with the rest of the wording like :

Allahumma Inni U`eezuhu (i seek refuge for him) or U`eedhuka (i seek refuge for you) bikalimaatillahit tama min kulli shaytaani wahamma wa min kulli `aynin laammah (see  the above du`a no. 7)

If you want to recite a du`a for a female (mother, daughter, sister, etc) then

O Allah! I seek your protection for her and her progeny from Shaytan the accursed

You can also use these words :

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أُعِيذُهَا
or

And add this to the du`a no. 7 above just like in the case of the men shown above. So it will be :

Allahumma inni U`eezuha (i seek refuge for her)  or U`edhuka (i seek refuge for you) bikalimaatillahit tama min kulli shaytaani wahamma wa min kulli `aynin laammah (see  the above du`a no. 7)

A’oodhu bi kalimaatiAllaah hitaammahti min sharri ma khalaq (THRICE)

The Prophet (s.a.w) said: “Whoever stops to rest and says, ‘A’oodhu bi kalimaat Allaah il-taammah min sharri ma khalaq (I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allaah from the evil of that which He has created),’ nothing will harm him until he moves on from that place.”

[Ref: Narrated by Muslim, al-Dhikr wa’l-Du’aa, 4881]

9)

Laa ilaaha ill-Allaah wahdahu laa shareeka lah, lahu’l-mulk wa lahu’l-hamd yuhyi wa yumeet wa huwa ‘ala kulli shay’in qadeer*

[Reference: Muslim 1/418, Ahmad, At-Tirmithi 5/515, Ahmad 4/227. See its checking in Ibn Al-Qayyim Al-Jawziyyah's Zddul-Ma'ad 1/300]

Virtue:

Umarah bin Shabib As-Saba’i narrated that the Messenger of Allah said:“Whoever says: none has the right to be worshipped but Allah, Alone, without partner, to Him belongs all that exists, and to Him belongs the praise, He gives life and causes death, and He is powerful over all things, (La Ilaha Illallahu Wahdahu La Sharika Lahu Lahul-Mulku Wa Lahul-Hamdu, Yuhyi Wa Yumitu Wa Huwa ala Kulli Shai’in Qadir)’ ten times at the end of Al-Maghrib - Allah shall send for him protectors to guard him from Shaitan until he reaches morning, and Allah writes for him ten good deeds, Mujibat, and He wipes from him ten of the destructive evil deeds, and it shall be for him the equal of freeing ten believing slaves.”

[Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3534; 3468; Sunan Ibn Majah 3798; Muwatta Maalik Book 15, Hadith 20; Sahih Muslim Book 35, Hadith 6508, graded as Hassan by Albaani, Ibn Hajar, al-Mundhari and others]

The above dua was recited By prophet s.a.w on his companions to remove evil eye

12). There is also the ruqyah by means of which Jibreel A.S treated the Prophet (s.a.w): “Bismillaah urqeeka min kulli shay’in yu’dheeka, wa min sharri kulli nafsin aw ‘aynin haasid Allaah yashfeek, bismillaah urqeek

(In the name of Allaah I perform ruqyah for you, from every thing that is harming you, from the evil of every soul or envious eye may Allaah heal you, in the name of Allaah I perform ruqyah for you).” This should be repeated three times. And Allaah knows best.  ”

[Ref: Sahih Muslim, Al Salaam 4056]

13)

Ibn `Umar (r.a) narrated, ‘The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu `alaihi wa sallam) never failed to say these words in the morning and the evening:

“O Allah! I ask you for pardon and well-being in my religious and worldly affairs, and my family and my wealth. O Allah! Cover my weaknesses and set at ease my dismay. O Allah! Preserve me from the front and from behind and on my right and on my left and from above, and I seek refuge with you lest I be swallowed up by the earth.”

14)

When the Messenger of Allaah -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam-would enter the Masjid he would say:

A’outhu bil-lahil ‘atheem, wa bi-wajhihil-kareem, wa bi-sultanihil-qadeem min ‘ash-shayanir-rajeemi

I seek refuge with Allaah The Supreme and with His Noble Face, and His eternal authority from the accursed shaytaan –

Then he (s.a.w) said: if someone says this supplication then the shaytaan says: this person has been protected from me for the rest of the day.

[Hadeeth taken from ‘Saheeh al-Kalima at-Tayyib’, By Shaykhul Islaam Ibn Taymeeyah , Checked by Muhammad Nasir-rudeen al-Albani and Sunan Abi Dawud 466]

15)

Ja’far bin Sulaymaan ad-Duba’ee narrated:  Aboo at-Tayyaaj narrated to us, he said:  “I said to ‘Abdur-Rahmaan bin Khanbash at-Tameemee – and he was an old man – ‘did you reach the Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم (during his lifetime)?’  He said, ‘Yes.’ He said: ‘So I said:  How did the Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم act on the night the shayaateen plotted against him?’  So he said: ‘Indeed the shayaateen descended that night upon the Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم from the valleys and mountain paths, and amongst them was a shaytaan, in his hand was a flame of fire, wanting to burn the face of Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم with it.  So Jibreel – عليه السلام – descended to him and said:  ‘O Muhammad! Say:

'I seek refuge with the Noble Face of Allah and with the complete words of Allah which no righteous one (yujawizuhunna barrun) nor wicked one (fajir) can exceed (overpower), from the evil of what He has created, originated and multiplied. And from the evil of what descends from the heavens, and from the evil of what ascends to them, and from the evil of what is sown in the earth and is created, and from the evil of what comes out from it (earth), and from the evil of the fitan  (calamities) of the night and the day, and from the visitations of (all that comes along with) the night and day, except for one that knocks with good, O Merciful!

So it (this du’aa) extinguished their fire, and Allaah تبارك و تعالى defeated them.”

Another hadeeth that shows the immense power of the above du`a (no. 15) is as follows:

Yahya related to me from Malik from Summayy, the mawla of Abu Bakr from al-Qa'qa ibn Hakim that Kab al-Ahbar said, "Had it not been for some words which I said, the jews would have made me into a donkey." Someone asked him what they were. He said...(the same du`a as mentioned above)"

[Ref: Muwatta Malik Book 51, Hadith 1744]

16) Say: it (the Qur'an) is a healing for those who believe, a guide and healing [Soorah Fusilaat: 44]

In Accordance to the Above verse, we can use Quran as a cure. one such verse which has been useful for me , my family and many others whom i know personally is the last 2 verses of Surah Al Qalam i.e Surah no. 68 verses 51-52 {you may recite these 7 times or as as many times as you wish}. This is because the cause of the revelation of these verses was when the disbelievers were trying to cast an evil eye on the prophet (s.a.w). So this verse really helps relieve headaches and other diseases caused by evil eye and its likes. Other verses that have been proven beneficial in curing are : Al Faatiha (very beneficial) , Surah Yunus verse 57, Surah Nahl verse 69, Surah al Isra verse 82, Surah al Muminoon verse 115, Surah Ash-Shuara verse 80]

Note: For healing and cure many other surahs and dua'as are used. You may consult a reliable scholar who treats using Qur'an and Sunnah and for more information read the links shared below.

17)

My Lord, aid me and do not aid against me, and grant me victory and do not grant victory over me, plot for me and do not plot against me, guide me and facilitate guidance for me, grant me victory over those who transgress against me. My Lord, make me ever-grateful to You, ever-remembering of You, ever-fearful of You, ever-obedient to You, ever-humble to You, oft-turning and returning to You. My Lord, accept my repentance, wash my sins, answer my supplications, make firm my proof, make firm my tongue, guide my heart, and remove the treachery of my chest.

[Ref: It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas that : the Prophet (salallahu `alayhi wa sallam always) used to say (this du`a) in his supplication [Ref: Sunan Ibn Majah 3830]

Residents in the Kingdom are reporting a dramatic increase in the incidents of black magic, said to be practiced by mostly expats.

The phenomenon is rampant in the Western Province, which records higher numbers in comparison with the other parts in the Kingdom, according to officials. Makkah and Madinah have recorded the highest number of cases, sources have said.

More than 85 percent of witchcraft-related cases registered in Makkah’s courts involve expats, according to statistics issued by the Ministry of Justice.

The increase in the number of witchcraft-related cases has prompted authorities at the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice (known in Arabic as the “Haia“) to use social networking sites to spread awareness and close in on sorcerers. In fact, the Haia has an exclusive section on its web site that addresses cases related to witchcraft.

The commission also recently introduced training programs for field employees in Makkah on how to deal with sorcerers.

“We have implemented certain procedures and systems to deal with cases pertaining to sorcery across the Kingdom,” Ahmed Al-Janard, a spokesman at the commission, told Arab News.

“The Haia recently apprehended a resident in the Eastern Province who was involved in the promotion of witchcraft through his Twitter account,” he said. “He was caught selling a stone that he claimed has the power to eliminate evil, reduce envoy and foster feelings of love.”

A Jeddah court recently sentenced an Asian Qur’an teacher to a four-year prison term and a hundred lashes, in addition to deportation upon completing his sentence, for practicing witchcraft and contacting potential clients on their mobile phones.

Several uninhabited flats and buildings, meanwhile, are said to possessed by jinn, according to residents who claim to have personally witnessed the supernatural creatures.

“I have frequently witnessed jinn attacks,” said Issa, an imam who cures residents affected by the supernatural creatures. “People come to me saying they had seen a ghost or had experienced strange incidents.”

“The Qur’an states that jinn have the ability to scare people,” he said. “They are supernatural beings that reside in parallel to our world.”

“I had rented out a flat in this area even though the structure of the building was outdated because it was affordable,” said Syed Arif, an expat who recently moved onto the Arbaeen district in Jeddah.

“My younger son started to talk to what we thought was an imaginary friend,” he said. “He never wanted to leave the house and stayed in his room for hours. We used to hear him laughing and talking to himself all the time.”

“When the situation got worse, we consulted a sheikh, who told us our son plays with a jinn,” he said. “He had advised us to move houses if the situation continued.” Amena Ali, a Jeddah residents, told Arab News of her experience with the unseen.

“We use to live in the Bab Makkah area and my daughter once complained that she saw a shadow in the house,” said Amena. “We didn’t pay attention to her, thinking it was her imagination, until my husband encountered the same shadow.”

Ejaz Hamed, a resident in the Rehab district, said that the government has closed off a local building said to be inhabited by jinn, which has not been rented out in years.
Ahlam Hafez from Riyadh said she paid a sheikh more than SR10,000 to get rid of jinn in a neighboring flat.

“There are believers and non-believers among jinn,” said Mohammed Mukhtar, a sheikh.

“Preachers who earn their living by exorcising spirits should charge affordable fees.”

All mistakes are mine and All good is from Allah. May Allah have mercy on the one who corrects me.

  4. Are these authentic?
Asma' bint Abi Bakr (Ra) narrates: "Whoever read Surah al-Fatiha, Surah Ikhlas, and the Mu'awwadhatayn (Surah al-Falaq and Surah an-Nas) seven times each after the Jumu'ah Salaah shall be safeguarded till the next Friday." Waki' (Ra) [the narrator] said: I myself experienced this and found it as mentioned. (Bayhaqi)

Ibn Shihab (Ra) said: "He who reads Surah Ikhlas, and the Mu'awwadhatayn (Surah al-Falaq and Suran an-Nas) after the Jumu'ah Salaah when the Imaam makes the salaam [marking the end of the prayer], and before entering into any conversation, then he shall be protected." Abu 'Ubayd (Ra) [one of the narrators] said: I think he said: He, his wealth, and his children shall be under the protection of Allah from one Friday to the next Friday. (Abu Ubayd)

    1. Walaykum Assalaam. There are two ways to help your brother/sister in faith. You continue to make du`a for him/her or you either yourself or via a genuine raaqi do ruqyah over him.

Meanwhile, Try to bring him near religion. Take him to Islamic gatherings, make him meet learned scholars.
